Torin is a new Cyclops summoned by Utgar. He’s a dangerous force on the battlefield using his Battle-axe to tear through smaller opponents and his Evil Eye Protection to give ranged counterstrike to himself and adjacent small or medium Utgar figures that he protects.

Abilities

  • Battle Axe:
    If Torin is attacking a small or medium figure, add 2 dice to Torin's attack.
  • Evil Eye Protection:
    When Torin, or any friendly small or medium Utgar figure adjacent to Torin, rolls defense dice against a normal attack from a non-adjacent attacking figure, all excess shields count as unblockable hits on the attacking figure.

Synergy

  • Ornak: Red Flag of Fury
    As a Unique Hero that follows Utgar, Torin may benefit from Ornak’s Red Flag of Fury turn exchange ability.
  • Evil Eye Protection: Small and Medium Utgar Units
    Any small or medium figure that follows Utgar and is adjacent to Torin may benefit from his Evil Eye Protection.

    If Deathwalker 7000 is adjacent to Torin and is targeted with a normal attack by a non-adjacent figure, do all shields rolled after the first count as unblockable wounds on the attacking figure?

Strategy

This figure has two uses. Melee or defence. In my opinion, use is evil eye ability to keep your start zone safe, and then once much of your army dead, go on the offence. He is powerful enough on offence to go toe-to-toe with Drake or Alastair MacDirk, but be wary of powerful large/huge figures such as Tor-Kul-Na or Jotun because his +2 attack doesn't work against them. In conjunction with the Marro Warriors, Raelin the Kyrie Warrior (ROTV), and height, you have a squad that can self-regenerate, has 6 defence, protection against ranged attacks, a range of 6, and a attack of 3. That's a powerhouse. He's good in conjunction with other Marro as well. Keep him in the middle of your start zone, draft him with an Utgar-comprised army, and send him out later in the game when his 6 attack can smash most of what's off of the board.
